LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) is issuing a warning about 30-year-old Lethbridge resident Mitchell Lloyd Robert Socholotuik.

The LPS stated in a news release, “Police believe Socholotuik poses a significant risk of harm to the community, specifically female children.”

Police say Socholotuik has served seven years in custody after being convicted of sexual assault and invitation to sexual touching involving a young girl.

In 2017, he was originally released in a community outside of Lethbridge. The LPS said Socholotuik has been in and out of custody for subsequent convictions of breaching various conditions of his release.

The LPS High Risk Offenders Unit is monitoring Socholotuik.

In the news release, the LPS stated, “Based on the circumstances of his offence targeting a young girl, he is likely to engage in behaviour that is opportunistic and may seek out interactions with young girls. He has been assessed as a high-risk to re-offend.”

Socholotuik is bound by permanent, life-long conditions that prohibit him from:

  • Having any contact, including communication by any means, with a person who is under the age of 16-years-old.
  • Attending a public park, public swimming area, daycare centre, school ground, playground or community centre where children under 16 years of age are present, or can be reasonably expected to be present.
  • Seeking, obtaining or continuing employment or being a volunteer in a capacity that involves being in a position of trust or authority of children under the age of 16.

He is further subject to additional conditions, which include:

  • Prohibitions from accessing and possessing pornography
  • Prohibitions from accessing the internet without supervision
  • Requirements to report any relationships or friendships with females

Police describe Socholotuik as a Caucasian male, standing at 6’2” and weighing approximately 235 lbs, with brown hair and brown eyes.

The LPS said it is releasing this information as officials believe it is in the best interest of the community to inform the public of the residency of Mitchell Socholotuik.

Residents are advised that the intent of releasing the information is to help the public take suitable precautions, and “not to engage in any form of vigilante action”.
