CALGARY, AB – It was a successful trip for the Canadian Pacific (CP) Holiday Train this season.

The program helps to collect monetary donations and food items for food banks.

Two trains travelled on different routes, one across Canada and the other in the United States. Stops in each community featured live musical performances.

Early figures from CP show that this year, more than $1.3 million was raised and 121,000 pounds of food was collected. CP said final numbers are still being calculated.

The CP Holiday Train has now raised over $22.4 million and collected 5.15 million pounds of food since its first journey in 1999.

In a news release, CP President and CEO Keith Creel said, “We are overjoyed with the support we received from people across the CP network who came together to celebrate the season while braving the elements in support of their community and those in need.”

This year marked the return to in-person events for the program following virtual concerts throughout the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021.
