CALGARY, AB – The Calgary Police Service (CPS) is informing the public of the release of a high-risk offender.

Shaun Gerard Desruisseaux, 43, received a statutory release in Calgary on Thursday, January 5, 2023.

Police say he served two-thirds of a 15-year sentence in connection to a series of sexual assaults.

CPS adds that the offences occurred between 2008 and 2011 in southern Alberta and Saskatchewan, targeting women and a teenager, all of whom were unknown to him.

Desruisseaux is subject to release conditions and will be supervised by Correctional Services Canada.

A statement from CPS says they are “issuing this information and warning after careful deliberation and consideration of all related issues, including privacy concerns, in the belief that it is clearly in the public interest to inform the members of the community of the release of DESRUISSEAUX.”

By releasing this information, CPS says it wanted to enable the public to take suitable precautionary measures. They are also telling the public to not embark on any form of vigilante action.
