Alberta Health Services hosting chronic pain management workshops online

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services (AHS) is offering a free virtual service to assist those who are living with chronic pain symptoms, or supporting someone living with a long-term health condition.

‘Better Choices, Better Health’ is a series of workshops that will last six weeks. The workshops will start on January 18, 2023, and is open to residents in the AHS South Zone.

AHS says the program is designed to help Albertans living with ongoing medical conditions explore ways to manage their health.

The sessions will be led by trained volunteer leaders.

AHS says many of them living with chronic health conditions themselves. In a news release, the agency stated that, “This approach ensures an understanding of the challenges participants face and provides a supportive and welcoming environment.”

Participants will learn techniques to manage their symptoms; tips for healthy eating and becoming more active; strategies for talking with a health care team; methods for dealing with difficult emotions; and options for making everyday tasks easier.

The workshops will run weekly on Wednesdays, from January 18 to February 22 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m., and will be conducted over Zoom.
