City of Lethbridge unveils winners of snowplow naming contest

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The new names for 12 snowplows in Lethbridge have been unveiled.

A snowplow naming contest was organized by the City of Lethbridge, with submissions coming from the Lethbridge School Division, Holy Spirit Catholic School Division and Home School students. Entries came from learners in kindergarten to grade four.

More than 100 name ideas were submitted, but the chosen names are as follows:

• Snowzilla
• Snow White
• Avalanche
• Darth Blader
• Wow the Plow
• Mr. Plow
• Captain Flurry
• Frosty the Snowplow
• Mean Jean the Snow Plow Machine
• Snow King
• Tina the Snow Shuffler
• Super Koonskoyi (the Blackfoot word for snow)

The naming contest provided schools with a colouring sheet that included snowplow and snow route information, as well as winter safety tips.
