BEAVERLODGE, AB – Beaverlodge RCMP has arrested a woman in connection to sexual offences involving youths.

Police say the investigation started on October 12, 2022, and that the initial report identified more than one victim.

Maddison Peterson, 21, of the County of Grande Prairie, is charged with:

  • Sexual interference
  • Making sexually explicit material available to a child
  • Luring a child
  • Invitation to sexual touching
  • Sexual assault
  • Obstruct Police Officer.

Peterson has been released on conditions and is due back in court on February 6.

At the time of the offences, Mounties say Peterson had briefly worked at Hythe Regional School in the Peace Wapiti Public School Division as an educational assistant. The school includes students in K-9 classes.

Beaverlodge RCMP says there may be more victims and are encouraging them to come forward.

The school division says in a statement that the incidents did not occur at the school and that Peterson was fired as soon as the division learned of the allegations.

The division says support was made available to any students and families that were affected.

None of these allegations have been proven in court.

Beaverlodge RCMP says anyone with information on this or any other crime can call the detachment at 780-345-2485 or their local police. Anyone who wants to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) online at www.P3Tips.com or by using the “P3 Tips” app available through the Apple App or Google Play Store.
