LETHBRIDGE, AB – Watch out Southern Alberta, there’s another jam-packed weekend of events coming your way.

Celebrating Everything Scottish! Presented by the Southern Alberta Ethnic Association – January 20

The Southern Alberta Ethnic Association leads a celebration of all things Scottish on Friday. The event will feature performances from the Lethbridge Highland Dance Association, live music from the Celtic Routes band, bagpipe players, traditional cuisine, and Scottish trivia. Tickets for the event can be purchased online, and funds raised go towards supporting the Lethbridge Highland Dance Association as well as the Southern Alberta Ethnic Association. Alberta Food and Beverage Expo at Exhibition Park – January 21

On Saturday, guests 18-years-old and over can sample hundreds of wines, beers, cocktails and food items from Lethbridge restaurants and local suppliers at the Alberta Food and Beverage Expo. This year, the event will feature over 120 vendors, and tickets are available at the Eat Drink Alberta website.

L’omelette x Makiisma at The Owl – January 21

Visit the Owl Acoustic Lounge this weekend for a night of femme-led original music and favourites to dancing to from regional artists. Join Calgary’s L’omelette and Lethbridge’s Makiisma for a good time as they perform a collection of soulfully-charged and heartfelt tunes. The show starts at 9:00 p.m., and cover is by donation. Malanka, New Year’s Celebration hosted by the Troyanda Ukrainian Dance Club – January 21

The Troyanda Ukrainian Dance Club will be hosting Malanka, a New Year’s Celebration at the Italian Canadian Culture Centre this weekend. The event will feature performances from individuals aged three and up starting at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Alberta Genealogical Society – Every Friday

The Lethbridge branch for the Alberta Genealogical Society is opening its resource centre to the public from 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Community members are encouraged to come out and learn more about their history and try to trace their family trees. Festival Square Ice Rink – Open every day from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Looking to hit the ice this January? Festival Square’s free outdoor ice rink is still open every day in the new year. Community members are encouraged to come out, strap on their skates and follow the rules of the rink. Helmets and protective gear are strongly recommended.

Winter Light Festival at Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden – Multiple dates in January

From now until February 26, 2023, guests can see light and ice sculpture displays while learning about Japanese culture and traditions at the Winter Light Festival at Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden in Lethbridge. Tickets are available Thursday through Sunday, with additional passes available for the Kamakura [Igloo] Dome Experience or the Basha Nori [Horse and Wagon Rides].
