Two people injured in Lethbridge river valley fire
LETHBRIDGE, AB – Some residents might have noticed smoke coming from the river valley in Lethbridge on Saturday morning.
At around 6:35 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2023, Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services crews from four stations responded to a wildland fire located in the river valley adjacent to Whoop-Up Drive.
On arrival, responders spotted a small area of brush and grass that was burning out of control. The flames were extinguished about 40 minutes after crews arrived.
Officials note that an adult female with moderate burns and an adult male with critical burn injuries were transported to the Emergency Department at Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge.
