LETHBRIDGE, AB – Two local educational institutes are set to take part in a leadership summit.

Kainai Alternate Academy and Lethbridge Collegiate Institute (LCI) are among 20 Alberta-based high schools that will participate in Inside Education’s Generate and Navigate Youth Environmental Leadership Summit. The event takes place March 16-19, 2023 in Canmore, Alberta.

Six students and two teachers from each school will learn more about science, technology and innovations that will help shape their futures. Each team will participate in hands-on activities and collaborative workshops that will feature experts from industry, government, academic, the non-government sector, youth and Indigenous leaders.

Following the event, each school will develop and deliver an education and action plan based on what they learned at the summit.

Summit co-chair Mila Mezei said in a news release, “The Generate and Navigate Summit will help develop the next generation of energy and environmental stewards and leaders.”

Mezei added, “Students will meet with their peers from across Alberta, learning with and from a diverse group of experts, participating in exciting workshops—all with a sprinkling of fun mixed in. We are delighted to be back to in-person youth summits and cannot wait to meet everyone in March.”

Inside Education is the province’s larges environmental and natural resource education charity. The non-profit based in Alberta provides supports for K-12 school teachers across the province to work together towards a balanced and sustainable future for the environment, economy and society.
