LETHBRIDGE, AB – Warm up with a cup of joe, hot cocoa, or soothing tea over the next few days as Hot Beverage Week is underway in Lethbridge from January 25 to February 5, 2023.

This ‘sweet week’ features 11 different businesses that will take part in the featured hot beverage contest throughout the downtown core.

Participating locations are featuring new drinks or fan favourites for people to indulge in and vote on.

While the annual event has taken place for the past few years, this is the first time the Downtown Lethbridge Business Revitalization Zone (BRZ) is hosting the contest.

Operations Coordinator with Downtown Lethbridge BRZ, David Velazquez said, “We’re really trying to plan events that people can look forward to on an annual basis. So, if we create something that works and people like to participate in it, then we’re going to look to keep that going.”

This year, the Downtown Lethbridge BRZ will be offering some local prizes for those who vote during Hot Beverage Week.

Velazquez added, “At each location there will be an on-site QR code that people can scan, as well as a couple posters throughout downtown that will take you to a quick quiz. You just answer which one’s your favourite and you’re automatically entered into a giveaway where you’ll win gift cards, free coffee, some downtown merch and a couple other little surprises.”

Individuals looking for a little taste of what types of drinks are in the running can head downtown on Saturday, January 28, 2023, to test out free samples at eight of the 11 participating locations, with the option to make each drink non-caffeinated.

Some of the drinks offered include the Campfire Hot Chocolate from Bread Milk & Honey. Guests have the option to choose from a real milk, dark, or white chocolate base, or switch it up by opting for a coffee mocha base.

People can also dive into the White Chocolate Raspberry Mocha at The Penny Coffee House. The coffee has been a long standing item on the menu and can also be made vegan.

Another option is the Lavender London Fog from Hot Toddy’s, located inside Decor Out the Door. The owner says the twist on the original London Fog has been a hit for many, and it can be made with different milk substitutions.
