Hot Beverage Week – January 27 to February 5, 2023

The Downtown Lethbridge Business Revitalization Zone (BRZ) is hosting Hot Beverage Week from January 27 until February 5, 2023. It gives people an opportunity to support local businesses in the downtown core and try some tasty warm beverages. Community members are encouraged to check out the featured list of participating businesses online, and vote for their favourites for a chance to win a variety of prizes. This Saturday, January 28, a handful of locations will be offering up free samples of their specialty beverages. To learn more, head to the Downtown Lethbridge website.

Matt Santos at Good Times Lethbridge Comedy Club – January 27 and 28

Good Times Lethbridge Comedy Club will welcome an up-and-coming comedian based out of Ottawa this weekend. Matt Santos will take the stage on Friday and Saturday for a night of laughs with Host Jordi Bott and other featured guests. The show starts at 8:00 p.m. both nights, and tickets are still available online at the Good Times Lethbridge Comedy Club website.

Dueling Piano and Pasta Night at Canadian Brew House – January 27

The Canadian Brewhouse is hosting a battle of the pianos on Friday, January 27, with musician Cal Toth and a special guest. This dueling piano evening will feature classic rock and roll songs and offer an opportunity to request your favourite tunes. Tickets for this event also feature a drink and meal. Neon New Year Skate Party – January 27

Roller Skate Lethbridge will host a neon skate night at Southminster United Church on Friday, January 27. From 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., guests can register to roll and glow, with free roller skate loans available by reservation. The venue holds 50 skaters, so those interested in taking part are encouraged to sign up and fill out a waiver form early on the Roller Skate Lethbridge website.

Celebrate the Year of the Rabbit with the Southern Alberta Chinese Association – January 28

The Lunar New Year, or Spring Festival, began on January 22 and ushers in the Year of the Rabbit. The Rabbit is a sign of longevity, peace and prosperity and is the fourth animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac signs. Lethbridge locals can get together for a gala dinner and variety show starting at 5:30 p.m. January 28, 2023 at the Coast Hotel Convention Centre.

Temptations: Afro Latin Fiesta at OMG Sheesha Lounge – January 28

Those looking to dance the night away with a musical fusion of Afro-beats and Latin tunes can get together Saturday night, January 28, at OMG Sheesha Lounge. Local based talent DJ Carpel and DJ Alex Vera will host this Afro Latin Fiesta. Doors open at 10:00 p.m. and tickets are available online at the Eventbrite website.

Alberta Genealogical Society – Every Friday

The Lethbridge branch of the Alberta Genealogical Society opens its resource centre to the public from 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Community members are encouraged to come out and learn more about their history and try to trace their family trees. Festival Square Ice Rink – Open every day from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Looking to hit the ice? Festival Square’s free outdoor ice rink is still open every day. Community members are encouraged to come out, strap on their skates and follow the rules of the rink. Helmets and protective gear are strongly recommended.

Winter Light Festival at Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden – Multiple dates in January

From now until February 26, 2023, guests can see light and ice sculpture displays while learning about Japanese culture and traditions at the Winter Light Festival at Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden. Tickets are available Thursday through Sunday, with additional passes available for the Kamakura [Igloo] Dome Experience or the Basha Nori [Horse and Wagon Rides].
