LETHBRIDGE, AB – UPDATE (02/03/2023): The City of Lethbridge issued an update on Friday, February 3, 2023. Officials said that the initial advisory noted two commemoration projects. However, on Friday, the City of Lethbridge issued a correction and confirmed there is only one project.

The City of Lethbridge has issued a request for Indigenous artists to come forward as part of two commemoration projects.

Officials are seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from Indigenous artists to facilitate a community engagement process.

The process will support two commemoration initiatives focused on survivors of residential schools, as well as Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ Peoples.

The successful applicant will conduct a community engagement process on both of the commemoration initiatives and present recommendations on how they should be undertaken.

The City of Lethbridge said that the desired outcome of what’s been dubbed the Legacy Commemoration Project is to honour victims, survivors and their families.

The deadline for artist submissions is March 10, 2023. Further details about the project are available at the City of Lethbridge website.
