Feb 6, 2023 | 4:45 PM

MILK RIVER, AB – The emergency department at the Milk River Health Centre is closing again, hours after reopening from its last temporary closure.

Alberta Health Services says the department will be closed from 5 p.m. today, Feb. 6 to 8 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8. It was closed this past weekend from 5 p.m. Feb. 3 to 8 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 6.

The closures are due to a lack of physician coverage.

The department will reopen at 8 a.m. on Feb. 8 to provide 24-hour service.

During the temporary closure, nursing staff will remain on-site to provide care for long-term care residents. Calls to 911 will be re-routed to Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge (87 km) or Raymond Health Centre (60 km away). Patients seeking care can access emergency services at the Raymond Health Centre and Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge.

Anyone with non-emergency health-related questions can phone Health Link at 811 or their family phyisician.
