Care from the Heart Day Radio-a-thon returns for 13th year on February 9, 2023

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Chinook Regional Hospital (CRH) Foundation is gearing up for its 13^th annual Care from the Heart Day Radio-a-thon.

On Thursday, February 9, 2023, local radio stations, including WILD 95-5 and All Hits B93 FM, will speak with healthcare staff as they share their stories and discuss the impact donations made to the CRH Foundation have on the community.

Allan Bartolcic, Executive Director of the CRH Foundation, said the Radio-a-thon is one of their biggest initiatives of the year. He said for 2023, the goal is to collect $250,000 in donations.

Bartolcic said funds raised will “go towards our hospital’s greatest needs.”

“Specifically, to purchase state-of-the-art equipment and maintain our medical equipment facility staff and patient education, and of course, to promote our health programs and patient services to enhance care and delivery.”

Over the years, the Radio-a-thon has raised more than $3-million for the CRH Foundation.

Bartolcic said the impact on the community is “tremendous.” He noted that all donations stay in southern Alberta and help the local community.

Bartolcic said, “What we’re doing is we’re keeping world-class health care close to home and bringing in new equipment, technologies and also the expertise here to Lethbridge and southern Alberta. It’s very important, especially after we witnessed the pandemic over the last number of years.”

The CRH Foundation said one of its newest programs, Schwartz Rounds®, led by Dr. Dionne Walsh, will benefit from donations. The program offers healthcare workers a regularly scheduled time during their day to talk about the social and emotional issues they may be facing in caring for patients and families.

The 13^th annual Care from the Heart Day Radio-a-thon is from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 9. Bob Balog will serve as Honorary Chair for the event.
