UPDATE: Highway 2 near Okotoks re-opened following serious collision

UPDATE: February 10. 2023 @ 10:04 a.m. – The collision between a semi-truck and a pickup truck on Highway 2 has been confirmed to be fatal by police.

The driver and lone occupant of the pick-up, a 75-year-old male from High River, was declared deceased on scene.

A portion of the northbound lane on Highway 2 at 370 Avenue near the entrance to Aldersyde, was closed for several hours following the crash.

RCMP collision reconstructionist re-opened the highway just after 6:30 p.m. following their investigation.

Okotoks RCMP send their condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased.

ORIGINAL STORY: February 9, 2023, @ 1:07 p.m. – A collision between a semi-truck and a pickup truck has closed the northbound lane of Highway 2 near Okotoks, Alberta.

According to RCMP, just after 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 9, 2023, police responded to the crash on Highway 2 at 370 Avenue near the entrance to Aldersyde.

With the road temporarily closed, traffic is being diverted near Highway 547 into Aldersyde.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area, as an RCMP collision reconstructionist is estimated to be on the scene for several hours.

The condition of the drivers involved in the collision have not been confirmed by police.
