Commercial truck fire in Lethbridge deemed suspicious

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services (LFES) says it was called over the weekend to extinguish a cargo truck fire.

Officers responded to the 2900 block of 5 Avenue North on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at approximately 10:00 p.m.

Firefighters from two stations arrived on scene and said the commercial vehicle was fully engulfed in flames that were coming from the front and rear ends.

The blaze was put out before it could spread to any surrounding structures.

LFES says in a media release, “The damage to the vehicle is significant however there were no injuries reported to the crews on scene.”

Damages are estimated at $10,000.

The fire department says the cause of the fire is deemed to be “suspicious.” The investigation continues.
