Taber Waste Transfer Station and Landfill to close temporarily

Feb 13, 2023 | 5:22 PM

TABER, AB – The Town of Taber is informing residents of a temporary closure coming to the Waste Transfer Station and Landfill.

According to town officials, the Transfer Station Road will be closed to facilitate a scheduled culvert replacement.

That means the Transfer Station is anticipated to be closed from February 27 to March 6, 2023.

A news release from the Town of Taber states, “The closure of the Transfer Station does not affect regular residential or commercial waste collection. Collection will occur as normally scheduled.”

In the meantime, the landfill remains open, but from February 21 to 25, equipment to facilitate the culvert replacement will be in the area and drivers are asked to be cautious of crews.

The Waste Transfer Station is set to re-open by March 7, but work on the culvert won’t be complete until March 18, 2023, at the latest.

Those needing to dispose of a large amount of waste while the Transfer Station is closed are asked to visit another regional landfill or hold on to the waste until the station reopens.

Residents are asked to check for hours and schedule before visiting the Taber Waste Transfer Station and Landfill during closure on the Town of Taber website.
