Milk River Health Centre Emergency Department temporarily closing

MILK RIVER, AB – Alberta Health Services (AHS) has announced a pair of temporary closures of the emergency department at the Milk River Health Centre.

AHS says the closures are due to a lack of physician coverage.

The first of two temporary closures will be in effect from 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, to 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 15.

The emergency department will again close at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, and reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, February 17.

Emergency health services will return to being provided around the clock as of 8:00 a.m. on Friday, February 17.

During the closure periods, 911 calls in Milk River will be redirected to Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge, which is 87 kilometres away, or the Raymond Health Centre, located 60 kilometres away.

Nursing staff will remain on-site at the Milk River Health Centre to look after long-term care.
