LETHBRIDGE, AB – It is Family Day long weekend in Alberta, which means quite a few events are planned over the next four days.

Lethbridge Hurricanes play at the ENMAX Centre – February 17, 2023

The Lethbridge Hurricanes play on home ice this Friday, February 17. The Hurricanes will go head-to-head with the Brandon Wheat Kings starting at 7:00 p.m. at the ENMAX Centre. Tickets for the game can be found on the ENMAX Centre website.

Citizen Rage, Berzerker, MomBod and Trismegistus at The Slice – February 17

The Slice will welcome four pop-punk bands to Lethbridge this weekend. Calgary’s hard-core Citizen Rage will headline the evening, with Berzerker, MomBod and Trismegistus to warm up the crowd. Doors open at 8:00 p.m., with the first band set to start at 9:00. Tickets are available for $15 upon entry or online at Eventbrite.

‘The Little Prince’ presented by the University of Lethbridge – February 17, 18

This February, the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Lethbridge will perform ‘The Little Prince’ based on the children’s novella. This play is filled with puppets, masks, and live music. The show takes place at the University Theatre. Tickets are available online through the University of Lethbridge website.

How to Make Electronic Music, A Theatrical Experience – February 18

The local group Theatre Outré will preform a theatrical experience at Didi’s Plauhaus. The show follows a character named Megan who is learning how to create music. The performance integrates drama and live music. There are two shows on February 18, with limited tickets available. For more information visit the Theatre Outré website.

Wigs and Waffles at the Owl Acoustic Lounge – February 19

Lethbridge Electronic Music Festival (LEMF), Theatre Outré, and The Owl are set to host Wigs and Waffles, an all-ages drag brunch. Starting at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 19, guests can watch six drag queens take the stage at the Owl Acoustic Lounge. The performers include Dayna Hart, Sophie Wright, Didi d’Edada, Baby Drag, Dick Goblin and Poppy Puffter. Tickets are limited and only standing room is available. Passes can be purchased online at Showpass.

Play Day 2023 at the University of Lethbridge – February 20

Families are encouraged to head to the University of Lethbridge from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Monday. February 20 to enjoy a jungle-themed Family Day. Parents and children can check out the university’s 1st Choice Savings Centre and participate in several free activities. Families can hop in the pool, play brain games, jump in bouncy castles and build something in the construction zone. To learn more, visit the University of Lethbridge website.

Family Fun Day at Casa – February 20

Casa will also be hosting a free Family Day event on Monday, February 20. Kids can participate in button-making, community painting, drawing and other art activities. Guests are encouraged to check it out from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and dance along to music provided by the University of Lethbridge Conservatory of Music: Mini-U Music Class, World Drumming and Instrument Petting Zoo.

Winter Light Festival at Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden – Multiple dates in February

Time is running out to see the Winter Light Festival at Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden. From now until February 26, 2023, guests can see light and ice sculpture displays while learning about Japanese culture and traditions. Tickets are available Friday through Sunday, with additional passes available for the Kamakura [Igloo] Dome Experience.
