MILK RIVER, AB – The emergency department at the Milk River Health Centre will be temporary closed again this week.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) said due to a lack on on-site physician coverage, the facility will be closed on the following dates:

  • From 12 p.m. on Monday, February 20, 2023 to 8 a.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2023.
  • From 5 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 to 8 a.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.
  • From 8 a.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2023 to 8 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2023.

During the temporary closures, AHS said nursing staff will be on-site to provide care for long-term residents at the Milk River Health Centre. Patients are advised to call 911 if they have an emergency, and EMS calls will be re-routed to Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge or the Raymond Health Centre. Patients seeking care can access services in Lethbridge and in Raymond.

Residents are also reminded to call Health Link at 811. The service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for non-emergency health-related questions. People in need of non-emergency medical care are advised to call their family physician.

There have been numerous temporary closures of the emergency department at the Milk River Health Centre in recent months. On Wednesday, February 22, AHS will host an information session at the Milk River Civic Centre (321 3 Ave. NE) to answer any questions and address concerns residents may have.
