OKOTOKS, AB – The RCMP says it has seized a wide range of items believed to have been stolen.

The RCMP Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit reports that “at least three homes” were broken into, damaged, and had various items stolen from them in Foothills County, an area south of Calgary.

On February 15, 2023, officers executed search warrants at two homes in Calgary. The RCMP says the searches resulted in the recovery of stolen property including jewelry, electronics, personal identity documents, tools, collectables, break-in tool kits, high end fashion items, and mail.

Throughout the investigation, officials say more than 100 people have been identified as victims.

Matthew Grouette, 35, and James Lennie, 38, both residents of Calgary, are each charged with break and enter, possession of stolen property, possession of break-in tools, and failure to comply with a release order.

Following a bail hearing, Grouette was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Okotoks Provincial Court on March 10, 2023.

Lennie was also held in custody and appeared in Okotoks Provincial Court on February 24, 2023.

The RCMP says a third suspect was arrested and charges are pending.
