COALDALE, AB – The Town of Coaldale has launched phase two of a capital campaign.

The Coaldale STRONG! Capital Campaign is part of the development of the new recreation centre in the southern Alberta town. Phase one of the campaign was launched in September of 2021 in an effort to generate $1 million in donations for the new recreational facility.

Officials noted on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, that the first phase of the campaign has seen nearly $1.5 million in donations, pledges and sponsorships.

Coaldale Mayor Jack Van Rijn remarked, “Fundraising appeals for projects like this one are only successful if the community agrees with the project.”

He said, “Clearly, our community agrees that building a rec centre is a worthwhile endeavor. With the support of everyone who donated to phase one of this campaign, our community members can rest assured that the rec centre will be able to offer full-programming upon opening in spring, 2024.”

Phase two of the campaign will focus on selling facility naming rights. On February 28, the Town of Coaldale issued a Request for Expressions of Interest (RFEI) to facility naming rights on its website. This provides an opportunity for a sponsor to secure the naming of the 55,000 square foot recreation centre in a partnership with the town.
