Blood Tribe Police charge four after person allegedly held against will

BLOOD TRIBE FIRST NATION, AB – The Blood Tribe Police Service (BTPS) has apprehended four people in connection to an incident at a home on the First Nation.

Officers responded to a 911 call on Thursday, March 2, 2023, after an individual said they were being held against their will.

The caller told police that the suspects had firearms in the home, and one of the individuals allegedly discharged a gun.

BTPS says it was able to gain access to the home, get the victim to safety, and arrest several people.

During a subsequent search of the house and multiple vehicles, officers say they confiscated 56 grams of suspected fentanyl, two firearms, two replica firearms, edged weapons, drug paraphernalia, and Canadian currency.

Charles William Good Striker, 36, of the Blood Tribe, is charged with possession of firearms in contravention of a firearms prohibition order, knowingly possessing a firearm, personation, obstruction, careless use of a firearm, unlawful confinement, and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public. Good Striker was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Cardston Provincial Court on March 13, 2023.

Craig Cassidy Sweetgrass, 38, of the Blood Tribe, is charged with possession of firearms in contravention of a firearms prohibition order, possession of a controlled substance, breach of a release oder, personation, obstruction, careless use of a firearm, unlawful confinement, and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public. Sweetgrass was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Cardston Provincial Court on March 6, 2023.

Vernon Eagle Plume, 32, of the Blood Tribe, is charged with unlawful confinement. Eagle Plume was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Cardston Provincial Court on March 6, 2023.

Ross Gary Scout, 37, of the Blood Tribe, is charged with unlawful confinement. Scout was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Cardston Provincial Court on March 13, 2023.
