Mar 6, 2023 | 9:22 AM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Phase One snow routes have been declared active by the City of Lethbridge.

The activation came into effect at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, March 6, 2023. This means that drivers must move their vehicles parked along Phase One snow routes by 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 7.

Temporary parking restrictions come into effect to facilitate effective snow plowing. Lethbridge is forecast to see periods of light snow throughout the day Monday, according to Environment Canada.

The City of Lethbridge suggests motorists move their vehicles on to driveways, rear parking pads and along streets that are not part of the Phase One snow routes. Vehicles left in parking spaces along the impacted roadways will be subject to parking tickets, 24 hours from activation.

The measures will remain in place until the City of Lethbridge declares that snow routes are no longer active. At that point, regular parking can resume.

Routes includes in Phase One are identified with a blue snowflake tab on the upper side of snow route parking signs. Snow routes can become activated when snow creates unsafe driving conditions, as determined by City Transportation Operations.

An interactive map of roads includes with Phase One snow routes is available online from the City of Lethbridge.
