Phase two of LINK Pathway project approved
LETHBRIDGE COUNTY, AB – Lethbridge County Council has approved phase two of the Cor Van Raay LINK Pathway. Council members have also approved the second phase of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Pathway Committee and St. Mary River Irrigation District.
The LINK Pathway is a 15-kilometre paved barrier-free accessible pedestrian and bicycle path connecting the west end of Coaldale to the east end of Lethbridge.
Phase one of the project was approved by council in September, 2022 and is a 3.5-kilometre section from Coaldale to Highway 512. Phase two of the pathway is an 11-kilometre section connecting phase one at Highway 512 to the City of Lethbridge.
As part of the phase one approval, council adopted a nine-point resolution outlining requirements that had to be met by the Pathway Committee before considering approval of phase two. Requirements included agreements from landowners whose property the pathway will connect through, including the St. Mary River Irrigation District, CP Rail, and Alberta Transportation.
