LETHBRIGE, AB – The 2022 Professional Bull Riding (PBR) Canada Champion Nick Tetz from Calgary, Alberta remains on top as he closes out the Elite Cup Series Event Championship in Lethbridge.

Tetz won both Cup Series events in Lethbridge last year, and this year he picked up right where he left off, winning round one on March 3, and round two on March 4, 2023, at the ENMAX Centre.

Tetz garnered 140 national points with a gold finish in both rounds.

Unranked prior to the 2023 tour stop, Tetz vaulted to number two in the national standings. He sits eight points from the top spot, behind Jared Parsonage.

Tetz began the second tour stop of the season strong, surging to an early event lead when he conquered Sure Shot (Skori Bucking Bulls) for 28 national points.

In the second go, Tetz failed to make it through the tour stop’s accompanying 5/5 Bucking Battle, and was tossed by Bustin Rhymes (X6 Ranch Bucking Cattle/Legend Rodeo Stock) in 5.68 seconds.

The Calgary native’s round one win allowed him to take the top spot in Lethbridge, but he still trailed the national leader by 59 points.

When the dust settled Friday night inside ENMAX Centre, a new rider was ranked number one in the 2023 PBR Canada Championship race – Coy Robbins from Camrose, Alberta.

Amid an eight-out ride streak, Robbins finished third in round one and won the tour stop’s accompanying 5/5 Bucking Battle to collect a combined 40 national points and overtake Jared Parsonage from Maple Creek, Saskatchewan by 13 points for the number two spot.

Robbins first put points on the board in round one, covering Flick The Switch (X6 Ranch Bucking Cattle/Legend Rodeo Stock) for 83.5 points.

Parsonage, who was the 2017 PBR Canada Rookie of the Year, dominated in the special round, matching Positively Bangin (Outlaw Buckers Rodeo Corp.) jump-for-jump en route to an 89.5-point score.

Parsonage was unable to defend his spot despite finishing fourth in round one via his 82.5-point ride on Babamba (Vold Rodeo/Wyatt Bridge), which garnered him 16 national points.

Chad Hartman from Lancer, Saskatchewan kicked off the games in the next matchup as second on the leaderboard for the PBR South Country Co-op Showdown. Hartman rode Devils Dues (X6 Ranch Bucking Cattle/Legend Rodeo Stock) for 85 points to collect 18 national points.

Rounding out the top five in the first round was Garrett Green from Meeting Creek, Alberta in fifth place.

Green netted 15 national points after he rode Peaky Blinder (Kinky Buckers) for 81.5 points.

Round Two of the Elite Cup Series in Lethbridge

Tetz kept his momentum going in round two, recording his second score when he covered Tractorlands Freakshow (Wild Hoggs Bucking Bulls) for 83.5 points.

With the first pick in the championship round bull draft, Tetz renewed his rivalry with Sure Shot from round one, electing to go head-to-head with the bovine athlete for the second time that weekend.

Replicating his earlier success, Tetz matched the powerful bull jump-for-jump en route to the 8-second whistle for 86 points to clinch the victory.

Parsonage advanced to the championship round second on the event leaderboard after an 83.5-point score aboard Bubba Gump (Lazy P Rodeo).

He then drafted his opponent, Hard Not To Get (Vold Rodeo), in the championship round and completed the eight-second ride with 85.5 points.

Green logged his second score in Lethbridge when he went the distance atop G Unit (Vold Rodeo) for 82.5 points.

Green will return home having earned 88 national points. He climbed from number 15 to third place in the national standings, now within 47 points of top-ranked Parsonage.

Fourth was Hartman, netting 67 national points, although he didn’t start off strong in round two, only lasting 3.31 seconds on The Remedy (Braithwaite Ranches).

Hartman was quick to rebound in the championship round, delivering an event-best 88.5-point ride on Eski Time (Wild Hoggs/Colin Eskeland).

Rounding out the top five was Cody Fraser from Wilmington, Australia in fifth place, scoring 85-points on High Voltage (Wilson Rodeo), and earning 45 Canadian points.
