LETHBRIDGE, AB – Residents will soon have the opportunity to speak with members of the Lethbridge Police Service (LPS). The LPS is hosting a series of Community Conversations.

The first session is scheduled for Tuesday, March 21, 2023 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fleetwood Bawden School. The event will focus on trends seen in the downtown Lethbridge area. There will be additional sessions throughout the rest of the year in south, north, and west Lethbridge.

Residents will hear from LPS Chief Shahin Mehdizadeh as well as LPS Executives on the services annual and strategic plans, details on crime occurrences and trends in each area of the city.

In a news release, Mehdizadeh said the LPS wants to hear from citizens.

He stated, “Community policing is only effective when there’s an ongoing dialogue and collaboration with the people we serve.”

Mehdizadeh added, “We’re encouraging residents to come out to one, or ideally all, of the sessions to learn more about what’s happening in that specific area of the city, ask us any burning questions they may have and share their experiences and expectations to help ensure we continue to meet the community’s needs.”

The Community Conversation sessions are free to attend and take place on the following dates:

  • Downtown Lethbridge – Tuesday, March 21, 2023 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fleetwood Bawden School
  • North Lethbridge – Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 6 to 8 p.m. at St. Teresa of Calcutta School
