Lethbridge Sport Council announces winners of Achievement Awards

Mar 15, 2023 | 1:07 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Sport Council has announced the winners of its 2022 Achievement Awards.

A total of 15 recipients will be recognized and honoured for their significant contributions through sports in the Lethbridge community.

The Lethbridge Sport Council Achievement Awards (LSCAA) are separated into four categories and include athletic performance, sport excellence, leadership and spirit in sport.

Lethbridge Sport Council Executive Director, Susan Eymann, said the announcement of winners is always an exciting day for the organization and athletes alike.

“We love this day and the ceremony day, being able to read all the nominations that come in, you just learn so much about what is happening in the sport community,” said Eymann. “You know, we see over the year when the achievements come in, we see all the reports by the organizations, by family, by media, but there’s always some that surprise you.”

The Lethbridge Sport Council has been hosting the LSCAA since 2011 as a way to celebrate excellence and fair play on and off the field.

New to 2022, the LSCAA has divided the coaching excellence award to include a community coach as well as a high-performance coach.

Eymann explained, “Both are equally as important, but when looking at nominations, it’s hard to compete with national and Olympic coaches. So, we wanted to make sure that our community coaches got the recognition that they deserve.”
