Thousands celebrated St. Patrick’s Day 2023 in southern Alberta

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Thousands of people celebrated St. Patrick’s Day in southern Alberta on Friday, March 17, 2023.

Several restaurants, pubs, recreation centres and seniors’ centres in Lethbridge and surrounding areas held special events to commemorate the day.

According to Ireland’s official website, St. Patrick’s Day is a traditional religious and cultural day meant to commemorate Saint Patrick, who was a patron saint in Ireland in the fifth century.

These days, St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated around the world as a day to honour Irish heritage by wearing green and gathering with friends for fun, food, green beer and music.
