LETHBRIDGE, AB – It’s the first week of April and many people are looking forward to a short week with Good Friday being a statutory holiday.

Here’s a look at what’s happening in Lethbridge this over the next few days.

High School Musical on stage at St. Francis Junior High School– April 3-5, 2023

St. Francis Junior High School is set to bring High School Musical to life through on-stage performances with two casts. The show runs from March 30 to April 5, alternating between both matinee and evening shows. Tickets can be purchased in advance online at the St. Francis Junior High School website.

Last Class Bash at the University of Lethbridge – April 4

University of Lethbridge Students’ Union (ULSU) will host its end-of-year party in the ULSU ballrooms this week. On Tuesday, April 4, Last Class Bash will welcome U of L students and their guests to take part in the indoor music festival. This year, Stickybuds, 4Korners, Curtis Waters and Dozie will take the stage from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. in the 18+ event. In order to attend the concert, guests must have a valid University of Lethbridge ID or attend with another student. More information can be found on the Last Class Bash Facebook page.

Reuban & The Dark with the Bullhorn Singers – April 4

The Geomatic Attic is set to present Reuban & The Dark starting at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4. The alt-rock band from Calgary will bring their introspective lyrics and soaring instrumentals to Southminster United Church for one night only. Tickets for this event are available online or in person at CASA. More information can be found on the Geomatic Attic website.

Louisiana Hayride Show at the Yates Memorial Theatre – April 4

The Louisiana Hayride Show will be making a stop in Lethbridge for a single night at the Yates Memorial Theatre. The production features several tribute artists playing all the classics alongside a live band. Tribute singers will play songs from artists including Elvis, Patsy Cline, Buddy Holly, Lefty Frizzell, Loretta Lynne, Conway Twitty, Crystal Gayle, Roy Orbison and Shania Twain. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets can be found on the ENMAX Centre website.

University of Lethbridge Wind Orchestra Spring Concert – April 5

The University of Lethbridge (U of L) Wind Orchestra will host its annual Spring Concert on Wednesday, April 5 at the University Theatre. Specials guests joining the U of L orchestra will include the Chinook High School Concert Band and the LCBS Gold Band. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets can be found at the U of L website.

The Importance of Blackfoot Drumming at the Galt Museum & Archives – April 6

The Galt Museum & Archives will present Tyler Chief Calf as he discusses the importance of Blackfoot drumming. The event runs from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. with Calf singing a few songs for attendees. Museum admission will apply, but registration is not required.

Anime Movie Night at Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden – April 6

The Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden is set present its monthly viewing of Anime Movie Night on Thursday, April 6 in the Bunka Centre. Staff at Nikka Yuko have teamed up with the Movie Mill to put on a special show that includes popcorn and a special Japanese Soda. This month’s movie starts at 6:30 p.m. and is titled “My Neighbors the Yamadas”. Tickets and more information can be found on Eventbrite.

Cory Mack at Good Times Lethbridge Comedy Club – April 6 and 7

The Good Times Lethbridge Comedy Club will present Cory Mack for two nights this week. Hailing from Saskatchewan, Mack has toured Canada from coast to coast for four decades. She was also instrumental in curating the annual YYComedy Festival in Calgary from 2012 to 2019. Green Shirt Day – April 7

The Canada-wide Green Shirt Day was created to remember the victims and families of the tragic Humboldt Broncos bus crash in Saskatchewan in 2018. It also carries on Lethbridge’s Logan Boulet’s legacy by inspiring Canadians to register as organ donors and to talk to their families about their wishes. People across the country are encouraged to wear green on Friday and have important conversations about organ or tissue donation. On April 7, Lethbridge residents can also take part in a free skate at the Logan Boulet Arena. Learn more on the Green Shirt Day website.

Easter Scavenger Hunt at the Cor Van Raay YMCA – April 8

The Cor Van Raay YMCA will host a free Easter Scavenger Hunt from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for children of all ages on Saturday, April 8. Families will be given a scavenger hunt worksheet and tasked to find 12 items throughout the upper and lower galleries. Those who complete the list will be given an Easter-themed reward. According to the YMCA, the Easter Bunny will also be making a guest appearance for photo opportunities.

Easter Sunday Breakfast at City Light Church – April 9

While there will be many Easter Services happening over the weekend at several churches, City Light Church is welcoming families to take part in their free Easter family breakfast. Starting at 9:30 a.m., staff will be serving pancakes with several kids’ activities for children of all ages. For information can be found on the City Light Church Facebook page.
