LETHBRIDGE, AB – A local curling team is has advanced to a national championship event once again.

Team Dupont, representing the Lethbridge Curling Club, came out on top at the 2023 Alberta Club Championship – Women’s event in Lethbridge.

Lethbridge defeated the St. Albert Curling Club 5-3 to secure the victory.

Team member Nanette Dupont said the club, also consisting of Avice DeKelver, Kendra Nakagama, and Samantha Davies, has seen a lot of success since first forming in 2014.

They won a bronze medal at the 2015 Canadian Club Championships, silver in 2017, and gold in 2019.

Dupont believes the secret to their success comes down to the genuine friendship and comradery between herself and her teammates.

“The team needs to click together as a unit. You need to trust each other, you need to like each other, you need to like your positions that you’re playing, support each other, come together for each other. It’s extremely important,” said Dupont.

She adds, “You don’t have to be the best curler, but if you click as a unit, you guys can support each other and build each other up.”

With the win at provincials, Team Dupont has qualified to compete at the 2023 Canadian Club Championships, taking place from November 19-25, 2023, in Winnipeg.
