Grant Hunter running for re-election in Taber-Warner

TABER, AB – The incumbent candidate in the Taber-Warner constituency is seeking his third term in office.

Grant Hunter, a member of the United Conservative Party (UCP), has announced that he is running for re-election in the 2023 Alberta provincial election.

Hunter was first elected into office in 2015, and was named the province’s first Associate Minister of Red Tape Reduction in 2019.

He said he has been privileged to have served the community and the province for the last eight years.

“I am proud of being an Albertan and will continue to advocate for all the great things that make our province so amazing,” said Hunter. “When I was younger, I heard the phrase ‘Alberta Advantage’ but didn’t really know what it was. Today, I know what that is: it’s living in a place where families can keep more of what they earn; it’s a business-friendly government; it’s a place where strong families and strong communities are supported.”

During his time in the Red Tape Reduction office, Alberta moved from an “F” grade in the Canadian Federation of Independent Business’ Red Tape Report Card to an “A.”

Hunter said he is committed to removing obstacles for businesses by advocating for the reduction of bureaucracy.

He adds that one of his proudest accomplishments over the last term has been pushing for the twinning of Highway 3. The province announced in November 2022 that the entire highway, from the B.C.-Alberta border to the Alberta-Saskatchewan border will be twinned over the next several years.

“Southern Alberta used to be called ‘the forgotten south,’ but today, with the unprecedented expansion in our agri-food processing industry, our best days are yet to come,” states Hunter. “The UCP government has set Alberta’s southern region on a trajectory of strong job and economic growth for the next 10 to 20 years.”

If he were to be re-elected, Hunter said he would continue to advocate for “common sense approaches” that would build a stronger Alberta.

The provincial election is scheduled to be held on May 29, 2023.
