COALDALE, AB – The 12th annual Coaldale 5K Family Fun Run returns on Saturday, April 22, 2023.

Runners and athletes of all skill levels are encouraged to participate as the Coaldale Christian School looks to promote fitness and community spirit in this long-standing event.

A portion of proceeds from the event will go towards the Coaldale Food Bank, with the remaining funds being dedicated to community enhancement projects in Coaldale.

Jacob Wiebe, president of the Coaldale Family Fun Run, said, “The Coaldale Fun Run is a great way for people to come together and celebrate our community’s commitment to healthy living. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or someone who’s just starting out, this event is for you. It’s a chance to challenge yourself, have fun, and make some new friends along the way.”

The School Team Challenge provides students in southern Alberta with a fun opportunity to get out of the house, and kids are automatically entered to win several prizes.

The Corporate Team Challenge offers a friendly competition amongst local businesses, with the largest team winning a gift card and the fastest team winning an engraved trophy.

Coaldale Mayor Jack Van Rijn said, “Members of Council and staff look forward to participating in the 12th annual Coaldale 5K Fun Run. There’s nothing more unstoppable than when people come together for a common goal, cheer each other on and have fun.”

He went on, “Thank you to the organizers and volunteers for their hard work keeping this signature event one to look forward to.”

After the run is complete, participants will be treated to food and refreshments during the award ceremony.

Those interested in registering can do so on the Coaldale 5K Family Fun Run website.
