They will be able to exchange their Ukranian licence for an Class 5 Alberta licence to help them seek employment and care for their families.

Jackie Armstrong-Homeniuk, parliamentary secretary for Ukrainian Refugee Settlement, said, “Establishing a driver’s licence exchange program is an additional support for the Ukraine evacuees that demonstrates Alberta’s commitment and compassion to the long-standing relationship with the people of Ukraine.”

More than 28,000 Ukrainian evacuees have arrived in Alberta, and 2,590 Ukrainian evacuees obtained an Alberta Class 5 driver’s licence in 2022.
