Patio, Parklet and Street Vending Program returning to Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The City of Lethbridge is bringing back its outdoor patio and parklet program.

The program is aimed at supporting businesses in expanding outdoor seating opportunities to increase aesthetic appeal and attract more customers.

It was originally piloted in 2018 and gained a great deal of positive feedback from both business owners and the public.

Justin Schipper, Project Administrator with the City of Lethbridge said, “Its really good to see people downtown. It adds exposure to these businesses as well because some of them may be tucked back and not as exposed, so if they have a patio, it perks up peoples’ eyes when they are walking or driving by.”

Any business interested in exploring outdoor seating options is required to have a permit, which they can find more information about on the city’s website.

The City also has an incentive program in place to provide businesses with more assistance. The program includes a city-wide 50 per cent matching up to $1,000 for costs including plants, planters, furnishings and barriers for any patio or parklet.
