Southern Albertans highlight Team Canada’s junior roller derby team

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Canada’s top 35 youth roller derby athletes gathered in Toronto for the first time on April 22-23, 2023, for their first in-person practice and games as a national team.

Team Canada is among the eight teams vying for the sport’s top prize, the Junior Roller Derby World Cup, being held in Valence, France in July 2023.

Of the 35 players on the age 13-18 roster, seven hail from Lethbridge, along with one coach:

  • Audrey “Audzilla” May
  • Jesse “Chesie” Leger
  • Kyria “Clawless” Franklin
  • Mackenzie “Medusa” Heidinger
  • Myra “Shredher” Moore
  • Abigail “Super Fly” Reimer
  • Jasper “Golden Eagle” Davis
  • Caroline “Meow” Reimer (Coach)

In addition to the Lethbridge representatives, three hail from Medicine Hat:

  • Ami “Ami Gotcha” Traore
  • Mahawa “Hawabunga” Traore
  • K’Senya “K Slam Ya” Schell

In May, Team Canada will travel to Calgary for their second team practice, before a final practice in France prior to the competition.
