LETHBRIDGE, AB – It’s hard to believe that April has come and gone, but that means we are one step closer to summer.

As we head into May next week, here is a jam-packed list of events going on over the next three days in Lethbridge.

Taste of Colombia at the Multicultural Centre – April 28, 2023

The Southern Alberta Ethnic Association and the Colombian Cultural Club will host a Taste of Colombia event starting at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The event highlights Colombian culture and features a three-course Colombian meal and entertainment by local band Latin Rev. Tickets for the event can be purchased online at Eventbrite.

Bailey Kate and Slow Honey at Theoretically Brewing Company – April 28

On Friday, two Lethbridge musicians will take the stage at Theoretically Brewing Company for an evening of live music. Bailey Kate plays a mix of alt-folk pop while Slow Honey’s tunes align with a jazzy alt-pop style. The doors for the event open at 6:00 p.m. and the music starts at 7:00 p.m., with pay what you can tickets available at the door.

Will Hannigan at Good Times Lethbridge Comedy Club – April 28-29

The Good Times Lethbridge Comedy Club welcomes Will Hannigan to the stage on Friday, April 28 and Saturday, April 29. The 23-year-old comedian from Edmonton has been traveling across Canada performing nightly in bars. Tickets for the show can be purchased at the Good Times Lethbridge Comedy Club website.

Lethbridge Handmade Market: Spring Edition – April 29

The Lethbridge Handmade Market returns to Exhibition Park this weekend for another edition of its spring market. From 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., guests can browse from over 120 vendors, including Bootsma Bakery, Hey Dough Cookie Co., Head in the Clouds Collages, Mac and Custard, Willow and Oak, and Wren Wild Candle Co. Admission is $6 and free for kids under 14.

Francheska: The Prairie Queen at CASA – April 29

Telus Originals will screen Francheska: The Prairie Queen Documentary at CASA on Saturday, April 29. The film was developed in 2022 and follows front-line worker Francheska Dynamites as she tries to trade a life of three jobs and endless work hours for a successful drag career. It recently won the best audience award in Alberta, and best documentary feature film at the LGBTQA Toronto film festival and Rainbow Vision film festival in Edmonton. The event starts at 4:00 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer period and performance after the movie.

Dueling Pianos Show at Honkers Pub & Eatery Ltd. – April 29

Cal & Anna will perform a dueling piano show at Honkers Pub this weekend. From 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the duo will go back-to-back for a night of classic songs that are set to have vendors moving and grooving in their seats. Tickets can be purchased for $15 at the door.

Symphony Soiree: Springtime in Paris – April 29

The Lethbridge Symphony will host a springtime concert from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Sandman Signature Lodge. The annual gala and fundraiser includes a silent auction with chic entertainment and French cuisine. Tickets for the event can be purchased through the Lethbridge Symphony box office at (403) 328-6808 ext. 101.

Wigs and Waffles at the Owl Acoustic Lounge – April 30

After selling out the past six brunch events, Wigs and Waffles is back and set to hit the Owl Acoustic Lounge on April 30. The Lethbridge Electronic Music Festival (LEMF), Theatre Outré and The Owl will host a special drag event featuring Justine Time, Francheska Dynamites, Sophie Wright, Lava Cake, Brandi Jayne and Baby Drag. Tickets are available on Showpass, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Theatre Outré.

Sumo Sundays at Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden – April 30

The Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden is streaming real sumo matches from Japan every Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Bunka Centre. Sumo Sundays are free to attend and people of all ages are encouraged to cheer on their favorite rikishi or sumo wrestler.
