LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Public Library Crossings Branch will once again play host to the Big Truck Petting Zoo this year.

The event will take place at the west Lethbridge library on Saturday, May 27, 2023. Some of the City of Lethbridge’s largest vehicles will take over the parking lot, offering a chance for citizens to check out some of the equipment used by officials.

Joel Sanchez, Director of Infrastructure Services said the City of Lethbridge is excited to participate again, following the success of the 2022 event.

He said, “It’s not everyday you get the opportunity to meet the people, get up close with the equipment and get a firsthand look at how work is done throughout our city.”

Vehicles on display will include the waste and recycling garbage truck, a Lethbridge Police Service cruiser, and transportation street sweeper.

Officials note that attendees will be able to see new vehicles this year as well.

Sarah Head, Branch Services Manager with the Lethbridge Public Library said, “We are thrilled to partner with the City of Lethbridge to celebrate Public Operations Week by hosting the Big Truck Petting Zoo again. We had fantastic feedback from families last year and we are excited to welcome the community back for another event.”

The Big Truck Petting Zoo takes place May 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Crossings Branch north parking lot, located at 255 Britannia Boulevard West. The event is free to attend and marks a celebration for Public Works Week, which is on from May 21 to 27. The week recognizes the efforts of public works staff in the daily operations of the City of Lethbridge.
