CALGARY, AB – The Alberta Association of Nurses (AAN) will welcome hundreds of nurses from across the province to Calgary on the weekend.

The inaugural conference, Spark 2023, will serve as a kick-off for National Nursing Week from May 8 to 14, 2023, as well as a celebration of the organization’s 10,000-member milestone.

On May 4 and 5, Spark 2023 will introduce keynote presentations from leaders in the healthcare industry, offer hands-on breakout sessions and provide networking opportunities for those in attendance.

Kathy Howe, Executive Director of AAN said, “Nurses are the backbone of the healthcare system, and Spark 2023 will shine a light on the strength and perseverance that nurses showed and continue to display since the COVID-19 pandemic.”

“Attendees and speakers will converse about how to solve the biggest issues facing the nursing industry and how we can work together to build a brighter future for healthcare in Alberta,” she added.

As a way to honour National Nursing Week, AAN and other organizations across Canada are launching the #HeyNurse social media campaign.

#HeyNurse invites the public to share personal thank you messages and memorable stories about nurses on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Howe continued, “Nursing Week is a great time to thank nurses for the enormous impact they make in the lives of all Albertans. AAN is proud to represent more than 10,000 nurses across Alberta who provide excellent care to their patients every day.”
