LETHBRIDGE, AB – Residents in Lethbridge might notice a group of motorcycles driving around the city on Saturday, May 6, 2023.

The annual Motorcycle Awareness and Teddy Bear Parade, hosted by Southern Alberta Bikers, is set to take place. The parade will begin at 11 a.m. at the Lowes parking lot on the south side of the city.

A news release from the organization stated the event is a way to raise awareness about motorcycle safety and give back to the community.

In the release, event organizer Dallas Harty said, “We gather every year in celebration of motorcycle awareness and bring smiles to the faces of children, bringing joy to our hearts. Our pride in this event is immeasurable, and we continue to strive to make it even more meaningful with each passing year.”

Harty added, “The parade is a great way for us to get together, practice safe riding habits, and have fun while doing it.”

The parade route on May 6 will take the riders through Lethbridge before arriving at Chinook Regional Hospital. At the hospital, participants will donate a new or gently used toy that they brought with them.

Harty said, “It’s amazing how many riders come out each year with donations in hand. It’s truly heartwarming to see the community come together like this.”

The parade is open to all riders, regardless of their skill level or experience. Participants must register before the start of the event and wear appropriate safety gear.

This year marks the 35th anniversary of the Motorcycle Awareness and Teddy Bear Parade.
