LETHBRIDGE, AB – A new Virtual Reality (VR) highlighting sports facilities in Lethbridge has won an international award.

The video, made by Winged Whale Media’s Edouard Limon, Rupen Bhardwaj, and Claudia Limon, won the gold award in the ‘Immersive and Mixed Reality Video’ category at the 2023 NYX Awards, which recognizes the most innovative and creative work in video design, planning, direction, and production.

The video was created for the Lethbridge Sport Tourism Advisory Committee. It allowed sporting event organizers to immerse themselves in a 360-degree video rendition of the facilities in Lethbridge when planning their events. Organizers can also hear from some of the directors and managers of the facilities about the unique attributes of each site.

In a news release from Tourism Lethbridge, Edouard Limon said, “Receiving the prestigious NYX award for our work with Tourism Lethbridge is an immense honor for our team. Virtual Reality has taken the tourism industry by storm, and it’s a privilege to have used this innovative technology to showcase Lethbridge to the world.”

Limon added, “We’re excited to have the opportunity to bring international attention to this beautiful city and to highlight the world-class professional sports facilities it has to offer. We remain committed to pushing the boundaries of VR and creating immersive experiences that benefit our clients and viewers.”

Limon is the creative director of Winged Whale Media.
