University of Lethbridge Faculty of Fine Arts hosts –tzintlán at Fort Whoop-Up – May 12 to 13, 2023

University of Lethbridge (U of L) Faculty of Fine Arts students are set to host the ‘Landmarks 2023’ art exhibition at Fort Whoop-Up this weekend. Titled ‘-tzintlán’, the temporary art carnival bills itself as the “world’s first postcolonial theme park” and promises to be a multimedia immersive experience that can be enjoyed by all. Visitors can expect games, live performances, interactive experiences and other creative works displayed throughout Fort Whoop-Up. Admission to the event is free. Dale Ward at Good Times Lethbridge Comedy Club – May 12 & 13

Good Times Lethbridge Comedy Club is set to host Dale Ward on Friday and Saturday this week. Hailing from Calgary, Ward is a touring comedian who has appeared on a Just for Laughs album, won multiple local comedy shows and has earned over 215,000 followers on social media. Pancake Breakfast at Challenger Building Supplies – May 13

On Saturday, Challenger Building Supplies and Acera Insurance will host a charity pancake breakfast on behalf of Prairie Pets Rescue. Dogs up for adoption will be on-site and The Quest will put on a special scavenger hunt for interested guests. From 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., residents can get their hands on some fresh pancakes and sausages, along with raffle tickets for a custom-built doghouse. Suggested donations are $5 per person.

Casa 10 Celebration: Open House – May 13

Casa is set to celebrate its 10-year anniversary this weekend with several free art classes, musical performances and other family-friendly activities throughout the day. From 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on May 13, guests are welcome to commemorate 10 years of Casa in the downtown core of Lethbridge. There will be a cake-cutting ceremony, a guided gallery and facility tour, and a free performance from Oscar Lopez. Reuse Rendezvous – May 13

Environment Lethbridge is once again hosting its annual Reuse Rendezvous. Anyone interested in taking part is encouraged to place items marked “free” in front of their homes before 9:00 a.m. on May 13. During the day, people are invited to cruise the streets and help themselves to any of the items, free of charge. Any items remaining after 5:00 p.m. should be reclaimed by their original owners. Residents are reminded to clearly mark all items and to remove anything that’s not part of the event from the front of their property. Rita’s 10K and 5 K Run in Lethbridge River Bottom – May 13

Kinetic Indoor Cycle and Fitness will present Rita’s Run this weekend. This all-ages run, or walk, will start at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday in the Lethbridge River Bottom. The event helps to raise money for the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA Lethbridge). While registration has closed, people are still encouraged to come out and support the 433 people who already signed up.

PPW Maximum Impact! at Fritz Sick Centre – May 13

Pure Power Wrestling (PPW) will return to the Fritz Sick Centre in Lethbridge on May 13 for the Maximum Impact event. Tickets for the event can be found online at the Pure Power Wrestling website.

Alberta Genealogical Society – Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday

The Lethbridge branch of the Alberta Genealogical Society opens its resource centre to the public from 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Community members are encouraged to come out and learn more about their history and try to trace their family trees. Yoga and Tai Chi at Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden – Weekly

The Canadian Yoga Institute has begun its Tai Chi and Yoga classes at Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden this month. Flow Yoga will take place every Wednesday starting at 6:00 p.m., while Yoga for Wellness will start at 5:30 p.m. every Thursday. Starting at 9:00 a.m. every Saturday, people can take part in short-form Yang Style Tai Chi. Drop-in passes can be purchased on the day of the event, or you can register through the Canadian Yoga Institute. More information can be found online.
