Blood Tribe man charged in connection to drug trafficking

BLOOD TRIBE FIRST NATION, AB – One man faces drug trafficking-related charges in southern Alberta.

On Sunday, May 14, 2023, the Blood Tribe Police Service (BTPS) said members responded to a report of a potentially-impaired driver on St. Paul’s Road on the First Nation.

According to the BTPS, the driver blew a “FAIL” on the alcohol screening device and was arrested.

Officers say they seized 64 grams of suspected fentanyl inside the vehicle, with an estimated street value of $25,600. Police also claim to have confiscated $12,000 in cash, a shotgun, bear spray, and multiple edged weapons.

Dewey Dave Crow Chief, 43, of the Blood Tribe, faces 12 charge including possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of a prohibited weapon, and numerous offences related to weapons and driving.

He has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Cardston Provincial Court later this month.
