EDMONTON, AB – Flair Airlines has announced extra flights between Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver starting on May 19, 2023.

In a news release, the airline stated the flights are aimed to help Canadians impacted by the WestJet pilots’ strike embark on their planned travels with minimal disruption.

Stephen Jones, CEO of Flair Airlines said, “We hope this measure will help WestJet passengers who, otherwise, could not travel due to the pilots’ strike. Our teams are eager to help and the first of the extra flights went out for sale last night.”

According to the union that represents them, WestJet pilots have issued a 72-hour strike notice to the company and the government, and warn the airline could be shut down right before the May long weekend.

The WestJet Group said a work stoppage could occur as early as Friday at 3 a.m. MDT.

The airline saw an increase in flight bookings since news of the WestJet pilots’ strike was first reported, and began preparing contingency plans before the strike announcement.

Flair says there are limited seats and availability for the fares.
