Milk River man charged in connection with alleged assault at Coutts border

COUTTS, AB – A Milk River resident faces charges following a reported incident in Coutts.

The Milk River RCMP said that on May 13, 2023, members were dispatched to help Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel who were responding to “an unknown incident” at the Canadian Port of Entry in Coutts. Police said the investigation found that while undertaking their duties, two Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers suffered minor injuries after being struck by a motor vehicle.

Officers with the CBSA took a suspect into custody and secured him in a holding cell until the Milk River RCMP arrived on-scene to investigate.

Kache Miller, 50, has been charged with:

  • Assault Peace Officer with a weapon (two counts)
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Obstruct Peace Officer

Miller was released and is scheduled to appear in Lethbridge court on June 12, 2023.
