Grant Hunter: UCP candidate for Taber-Warner

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Grant Hunter is looking to remain the MLA for Taber-Warner.

He is running for the re-election with the UCP in the 2023 Alberta provincial election.

Hunter provided the following answers to LNN’s Meet the Candidates questionnaire:

Why did you decide to run in this election and why for your party?

I am running in this election, and for the UCP, because I want to continue to build a strong Alberta for our children and grandchildren. I want them to have the same opportunities I had growing up in Alberta, getting a good education, starting a business or getting a good job, and living a high standard of living. Conservative governments for decades have been successful at building the Alberta Advantage and I want to help continue that advantage for future generations.

Why do you feel that you are the best choice to represent your riding as MLA?

I have served my riding for eight years (Cardston-Taber-Warner for the first four years, and Taber-Warner for the past four years) and think it’s the best place to live, raise a family, and work. I have been a strong voice for our way of life in Southern Alberta and will continue to do so. I have already built strong connections with other colleagues and ministers and so on day one after the election, I will be able to hit the ground running. I have tried to always be available to my constituents and to listen to their wisdom, and I will continue to do that if elected.

What types of personal or professional experience do you have that would make you a good MLA?

My small business experience before I was elected has prepared me for the work if an MLA. I was privileged to be a cabinet member for 2.5 years and to sit in Treasury Board for 3.5 years. These experiences have taught me valuable lessons that I can use to promote the South while in the Legislature.

What would be your top three priorities if elected?

My top three priorities if elected are:

  1. Continue to build out the Agri-food processing corridor between Lethbridge and Medicine Hat. This will bring billions of new investment into the South, and with it, thousands of new jobs.
  2. I will continue to help my communities get the proper services they need so that each constituent can have a high standard of living.
  3. I will work with the UCP government to strengthen Alberta’s place in Canada, as an equal partner.

What else should voters know about you and your campaign?

Myself, and my team, have a strong and proven track record of getting things done. I don’t just make promises, I follow through with them. Highway 3 is getting twinned from BC to Saskatchewan, we are expanding Southern Alberta’s irrigation footprint by 230,000 irrigated acres, and we are seeing agri-food processing expand in the area like never before.

The Alberta Advantage is back and firing on all cylinders. Alberta’s best days are ahead, full of great job opportunities and business opportunities.
