LETHBRIDGE, AB – Advance voting for the 2023 provincial election is now open across Alberta.

Electors can cast their ballot starting Tuesday, May 23, 2023 until Saturday, May 27 at various advance polling locations in the province. Albertans can choose to vote at any advance voting location.

Chief Electoral Officer Glen Resler said, “Elections Alberta will once again be providing the Vote Anywhere Service during [advance] voting days.”

He noted, “This adds convenience, allowing electors to vote at any advance voting location in the province and receive the ballot for their home electoral division.”

During the advanced voting period, Elections Alberta will use electronic voting records and tabulators. In a news release, the province noted that with 87 electoral divisions, tabulators are an important piece of managing the ballot count and they give Elections Alberta the ability to report all results on election night. More about how votes are cast is available at the Elections Alberta website.

Albertans can find further information about advance voting locations, hours of operation and accessibility tools on the Where to Vote cards mailed to electors or online.

ALBERTA WILDFIRES

Officials said Elections Alberta is closely monitoring the wildfire situation in the province to determine how voters can be supported to cast their ballot. Electors who have been displaced by the fires are encouraged to find their closest advance voting location using the online map.

Additional voting options are available through the Elections Alberta website.

ADVANCE VOTE COUNTS

Throughout the advance voting period, estimates of the number of electors casting their ballots in advance will be provided on the Elections Alberta website.

Officials noted that the vote counter will be updated every 15 minutes between 9:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on each advance voting day. The estimates of votes cast will not include any votes cast at locations that are operating offline or are using a paper voting record.

General voting day for the 2023 provincial election is Monday, May 29.
