Lethbridge School Division appoints new superintendent

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge School Division has announced its new superintendent.

Mike Nightingale replaces Cheryl Gilmore, who announced her retirement in February, 2023.

Nightingale brings local experience to the table. He has served as a teacher, associate principal, principal and central office administrator for three school divisions. Nightingale has been with the Lethbridge School Division since August of 2020 as Associate Superintendent of Human Resources.

He said, “I am grateful to be able to work alongside the Board of Trustees and our dedicated staff as we endeavour to ensure that every student is deeply cared for and has an exceptional learning experience that meets their unique needs.”

Nightingale has a Bachelor of Education Degree and a Master of Education Degree from the University of Lethbridge, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Calgary.

He will assume his new position on August 1, 2023.
