SliceFest at the Slice Bar & Grill – May 26, 27, 28, 2023

The Slice Bar & Grill will host its annual SliceFest Festival this weekend from Friday to Sunday. It’s a weekend jam-packed with live music, shows and dancing. On Friday, the Slice welcomes Like Bears, Hockey Moms and Hell Diablo. Saturday, Scenic Routes to Alaska, Bailey Kate and the Queen of The Worms will hit the stage. On Sunday, Tyler Humphreys, Corduroy Brown, Dark Wrangler and Makiisma will close out the event. More information on the event can be found on The Slice Bar & Grill’s Facebook page.

Nikka Yuko Food Truck Friday – May 26

This week, the Nikka Yuko Japanese Gardens looks to kick off its first annual Food Truck Friday. From May 26 to September 29, several food truck vendors will be parked outside the Gardens every Friday, with trucks including Santeria Taco Truck, Ma n Pa BBQ, That Hawaiian Burger Truck, Mama Lo’s, Piggyback Poutine, Vesano Pizza, Westwind Kettle corn, Jerry’s Pop, Mac n Custard and much more. The trucks will run from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Matt Epp / Jesse Northey / Nora Kotkas at The Owl Acoustic Lounge – May 26

On Friday, The Owl Acoustic Lounge will host a variety of singer-songwriters for a night of powerful music. Opening the evening is Nora Kotkas, followed by award-winning artist, Matt Epp. Closing out the event is Alberta’s, Jesse Northey. Tickets for the event can be purchased online at Eventbrite with limited tickets available at the door. The show kicks off at 7:00 p.m.

DIY Comedy Tour – May 26 & 27

The Good Times Lethbridge Comedy Club is set to welcome the DIY Comedy Tour to town, starring Scott Porteous, Frank Russo, and Mike Payne. The three comedians have been making their way across Western Canada and will spend two nights in Lethbridge on Friday, May 26 and Saturday, May 27, 2023. Tickets for the show can be purchased online at the Good Times Lethbridge Comedy Club website.

2023 Provincial One Act Play Festival – May 26 & 27

The Playgoers of Lethbridge will present the 2023 ADFA Provincial One-Act Festival in Lethbridge this weekend. Over the course of two days, seven plays from theatre groups across the province will take the stage at the Yates Memorial Theatre for the annual event. The show will be presented in three sessions with tickets going for $10 per session. Alternatively, the two-day pass can be purchased for $20. The first show starts at May 26 at 7:30 p.m., with the other two sessions taking place at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Big Truck Petting Zoo – May 27

The Lethbridge Public Library Crossings Branch will once again play host to the Big Truck Petting Zoo this year. On Saturday, some of the City of Lethbridge’s largest vehicles will take over the parking lot, offering a chance for citizens to check out some of the equipment used by officials. Vehicles on display will include the waste and recycling garbage truck, a Lethbridge Police Service cruiser, and transportation street sweeper. The Big Truck Petting Zoo takes place May 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Crossings Branch north parking lot, located at 255 Britannia Boulevard West.

Cookie Crimes presents Discover Downtown Day – May 27

Lethbridge’s Cookie Crimes is set to celebrate its first year of business this weekend and has invited several other downtown businesses to participate in a block party in Festival Square. Free activities from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. include sidewalk sales, music and games on 5th, 6th and 7th Street as well as 3rd and 4th Avenue.

Asian Heritage Festival at the Southern Alberta Ethnic Association– May 27

The Southern Alberta Ethnic Association is set to host its annual Asian Heritage Festival on Saturday, May 27. From 12:00 p.m to 4:00 p.m., the free event will include food, performances and cultural activities. Food vendors taking part include the Nepali Community of Lethbridge, India Canada Cultural Association, Tandoor Hut, Canadian Bhutanese Society, Filipino Canadian Association of Lethbridge Alberta, Luisa Quan Chiu, Fusion BBQ & All You Can Eat Sushi.

Provincial Arm Wrestling Championship – May 27

The Lethbridge Arm Wrestling Club is set to host the Battle of Alberta Provincial Arm Wrestling Championship on Saturday. Starting at 12:00 p.m. Alberta residents will face off in the highly skilled competition of arm wrestling at the Sandman Hotel. Weigh-ins for the event take place the evening prior between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. with ages between competitors ranging from as young as 14 to over 50. Empowered Filmmaker Master Class community screening – May 27

In partnership with Reconciliation Lethbridge and the Interfaith Food Bank, the Empowered Filmmaking Master Class will host a community screening on Saturday, May 27. The class has been running since May 23, and helps to support local Indigenous film-making students showcase what matters most to them in Lethbridge. The community screening is free and starts at 5:00 p.m. at the Interfaith Food Bank on 1103 3rd Ave South.

OHKOTOKI’AAHKKOIYIINIIMAAN POWWOW at the Lethbridge College – May 27 & 28

The second annual OHKOTOKI’AAHKKOIYIINIIMAAN POWWOW will take place on Saturday, May 27 and 28 at Lethbridge College. The two-day celebration will feature a variety of events, including intertribal contest singing and drumming, hand drums, golden age men’s, golden age women’s, men’s buckskin, and junior, teen and tiny tot categories. Ticket sales from this event will help provide financial support to Indigenous students coming to Lethbridge College for the first time. Trek for Tourette – May 28

The 15th annual Trek for Tourette takes place Sunday, May 28 at Legacy Park. Funds raised from the event will help Tourette Canada continue to deliver support and educational programs. The event in Lethbridge is hosted by Tourette Lethbridge. Participants are asked to meet at 1 p.m. on the east side of the pavilion at Legacy Park, near the north entrance. Free Yoga at Festival Square – May 28

The 4 Elements Wellness Clinic will put on a free yoga class down in Festival Square on Sunday, May 28. From 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Lethbridge residents are encouraged to sign up online for the free class on Vagaro.
