LETHBRIDGE, AB – It’s set to be another busy week full of events in Lethbridge. As we say goodbye to May, we can look forward to the activities, concerts and markets happening this summer.

Foodie Fest 2023 at Galt Gardens – May 30

The Downtown Lethbridge BRZ is set to host another edition of Foodie Fest this week. On Tuesday, May 30, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., several food trucks will be parked in Galt Gardens. Participating downtown restaurants will be offering free samples and local businesses will stay open late for people to take part in some evening shopping.

Pro-Amateur Comedy Night (Open Mic Comedy) at Good Times Lethbridge Comedy Club – May 31

On Wednesday, May 31, the Good Times Lethbridge Comedy Club will host its Pro-Amateur Night. Professional comics will test out new material, and newer performers can try their hand at stand-up comedy. Those looking to sign up for a guest spot, or grab tickets to the show, can do so online at the Good Times Lethbridge Comedy Club website.

Queer 101 at the Lethbridge Public Library – June 1

Queer 101 is an introductory workshop that sets a foundation of the inclusive nature of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. In partnership with Outreach Southern Alberta and the Lethbridge Public Library, the Lethbridge Pride Festival will host a workshop that dives into basic terminology and phrases that are inclusive and appropriate to use with contextual understanding. The event runs from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Crossings Branch and helps kick off Pride Month in Lethbridge.

Nix Dicksons and Ol’ Ben at Theoretically Brewing Company – June 2

On Friday, Calgary’s Nix Dicksons and Lethbridge’s Ol’ Ben will take the stage at Theoretically Brewing Company. Live music starts at 7:00 p.m., and guests are welcome to grab a brew and jam along to the two southern Alberta-based musicians. The cover is pay what you can at the door.

Karaoke at Pops Taphouse & Grill South – June 2

If you’re looking for a place to sing your heart out, Pops Taphouse & Grill South might be the place to do just that. From 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on June 2, rockers and spectators alike can take part in an evening of free entertainment.

Nikka Yuko Food Truck Friday – Every Friday

The Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden hosts Food Truck Friday every Friday from May 26 to September 29. Several food truck vendors will be parked outside Nikka Yuko, including Santeria Taco Truck, Ma n Pa’s BBQ, That Hawaiian Burger Truck, Mama Lo’s, Vesano Pizza, Jerry’s Pop Shop, and much more. The trucks will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Fridays.

City-Wide Bottle Drive – June 3

On Saturday, the Lethbridge Family Centre will host a City-Wide Bottle Drive to raise funds for its programs and services. From 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., there will be three locations to drop off bottles.

  • ENMAX Centre (Northwest Parking Lot): 2510 Scenic Dr. S
  • GPS Container Depot North: 613 13 St. N
  • GPS Container Depot West: 10-872 Heritage Blvd. W

For every garbage bag full of bottles or cans donated at the ENMAX Centre ONLY, a participant will receive a free coffee voucher from McDonalds.

Yoga and Tai Chi at Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden – Every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday

The Canadian Yoga Institue has begun its Tai Chi and Yoga classes at Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden this month. Flow Yoga will take place every Wednesday starting at 6:00 p.m., while Yoga for Wellness will start at 5:30 p.m. every Thursday. Beginning at 9:00 a.m. every Saturday, people can take part in short-form Yang Style Tai Chi. Drop-in passes can be purchased on the day of the event, or you can register through the Canadian Yoga Institue. More information can be found online.

Alberta Genealogical Society – Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday

The Lethbridge branch of the Alberta Genealogical Society opens its resource centre to the public from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Community members are encouraged to come out and learn more about their history and try to trace their family trees. Check it out at 128 – 909 3 Avenue North in Lethbridge and learn more on the Lethbridge & District Branch Alberta Genealogical Society website.
